White House Fighting Independent Investigation Of Hospital Bombing

It’s been four days now since the US bombed a Doctors Without Borders hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan, and the calls for an independent investigation have only grown louder and more insistent in that time. Cenk Uygur and John Iadarola (Think Tank), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

“House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) addressed his recent comments about the Benghazi committee again on Wednesday, urging people to “stop playing politics.”

McCarthy last week touted the House Select Committee on Benghazi’s success in hurting Hillary Clinton, prompting outcries from Democrats that the committee was formed for political reasons.

“Let’s be very clear: Benghazi is not political,” McCarthy said when asked about his comments at a press conference with House leadership, according to National Journal. “It was created for one purpose and one purpose only: to find the truth on behalf of the families of the four dead Americans. Period.””*

  • Jalil Sagzai says:

bullcrap Afghan forces had nothing to do with it America is blaming it on them because UN isn't going to do anything to Afghanistan but they would to America so that's why they are blaming it on them

  • dmaster225 says:

I hope tyt keeps us updated on this story. This story is very important as the US attacked an international, neutral organization which will get the world's eyes on them.

  • MagicKirin1 says:

Screw Doctors without Borders. They were harboring terrorists

  • Dun Hilda says:

This is a War Crime the only thing the investigation should uncover is who is guilty,

  • xadam2dudex says:

it is obvious that this was done deliberately …the intelligence / military had to have known that the target was a hospital and what type of hospital it was…all the satellite data and other intelligence had already painted this site as a civilian organization…the group even told the US military they were there…this was done to keep the chaos and hate going… things were cooling off too much to keep the war spending going…there is also a possibility that somebody was in the hospital they wanted to get whether US or Afghanis wanted to destroy the hospital…. the military brass / CIA don't care what happens because of their actions

  • cruciferousvegetable says:

It sounds like Joanne Liu is holding back information. Why is she so certain the US bombed the hospital on purpose? If she has information on who was being treated and who was killed in that bombing, perhaps she should share this information.

The only way the US bombed it on purpose was if they were treating a high profile terrorist. Joanne should tell us who they were treating and then we will know if it was an accident or not.

  • Tez Wharton says:

Turks are part of it talk about that one!.

  • Gary Doss says:

All wars have collateral damage events. An investigation is pointless.

  • Saad Hasan says:

For all of Taliban's faults, one of the main reason the movement started and gathered support in Afghanistan was the warlords kidnapping and enslaving young boys for sexual slavery with impunity. To attribute that behavior to Taliban is patently false. Cenk, please check your facts…This is akin to blaming Taliban or the opium trade when they were in power, when in fact they were credited by UN for banning and eradicating opium cultivation.

  • WAVETUBE84 says:

What about the July 1, 2002, a U.S. airstrike in the town of Deh Rawood? It resulted in 34 dead and 50+ wounded. It was a wedding party/reception. Hmmm? Well, there is more to the story: That was the area that "One Eyed" Mullah Omar (the leader of the Taliban) came from. US Military intel. ,possibly, predicted (wrongly) that Mullah Omar would be there and they shot up the crowd. This connection has never been publicized by any media outlet. I came up with that theory on my own and am not divulging any military secrets. But, externally, it is "logical". I'd apply the same dialectic to the hospital bombing. Maybe there was some local "Taliban" leaders whose family members were at that hospital. Maybe some local competing factions/tribal leaders gave military "intel" that indicated this. It's a common tribal tool that they use. Gota look into it. There maybe something else (or more to it) under the surface.

  • The BlankMan1234 says:

America and its police forces are the biggest terrorist organizations on the face of this earth.

  • Rob M says:

In Desert Storm, the Red Cross was being bombed. Apparently all the computer printers that the US supplied to the Iraq govt had transmitters to located them. Those printers ended up being in the Red Cross, and hence putting a target on them

  • Sherman Herritt says:

Apparently the "without borders" part confuses some people and nations.

Like.. that doctors are unaffiliated with "sides" in regards to treatment and care.

  • Sherman Herritt says:

Here you go Republicans, an actual "conspiracy" you should be digging into to figure out what exactly happened and who should be held accountable.

  • poff W says:

They do not care is was not them or their family or friends. It does not touch them.

  • burcoman990 says:

We are America, we do nothing wrong and this is no exception

  • youreallinsane says:

That "only retaliate with equal force" law should be the law for war in general.

  • Lethgar Smith says:

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

  • b0ilerboy says:

They should have an independent investigation, never trust the people who are being investigated to find the truth.
