(31 Dec 1943) New Congress Addressed By President Roosevelt
Congress convenes to hear FDR give a speech ringing with hope and faith. If the Axis powers were to win the war, says the President, their victory would have had to take place in 1942. Now in 1943, with the tide beginning to turn in favour of the Allies, “the heart of the nation is sound, its spirit strong.”
Coast Guard Enlists Dogs And Horses
American’s beaches on both coasts are now patrolled by hundreds of dogs trained for guard duty. The canines pass in review on leashes held by Coast Guard troops. Other four-footed recruits are horses, mounted by Coast Guardsmen on sentry duty along America’s shores.
