Navy Carrier Makes Water For Hurricane Irma Relief

ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 11, 2017) U.S. Navy Sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) prepare water bottles in the ship’s hangar bay to support residents affected by Hurricane Irma. The ship can make about 100,000 gallons of water a day. The dispensing system was designed by Sailors on the ship specifically for this mission. The Department of Defense is supporting Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
